Free Bible Narrations - the vision

There is a great need for Bible narrations that are unencumbered by copyright restrictions. When it comes to using a Bible narration, normally there are two copyrights to contend with - firstly the text copyright and secondly the narration copyright. This means that you can end up paying two royalties per narration which further compounds the cost to the end user. It would be great if someone would co-ordinate the provision of Bible narrations that are unencumbered by text and narration copyrights, making them publicly available and free for anyone to use on any device.

The best starting point would be to find Bible texts that are unencumbered by copyrights. Examples would be the Authorized Version (KJV) and Geneva Bibles in English, the Luther Bible in German, the Louis Segond version in French, the CUV Mandarin Bible, etc. Then, seek to find existing narrations of these that are unencumbered by copyright restrictions. Alternately, negotiate with the copyright holders of existing narrations to see if they would be willing to place them in the public domain. Then, for those that do not have a free narration available, co-ordinate volunteers from all over the world to record a free narration. These could then be collated and made available for free on the Internet.
